SYNC (Syrian NextGen Catalysts) is a Silicon Valley, California, nonprofit organization on a mission to create 25,000 technical job opportunities for Syrians in Syria over the next five years by bridging global demand with untapped talent. SYNC’s work is structured around three major initiatives
Employers connecting global employers and facilitating services that support their recruitment, onboarding, and retention of Syrian technical professionals
Employees establishing the Silicon Valley Vetted Standard, a critical-skills and professional readiness framework that job seekers can follow to align with international expectations
Connections building global networks of Syrian technologists in Syria and the diaspora through both virtual platforms and in-person gatherings. SYNC has already hosted high-impact conferences in Syria, Silicon Valley, Germany, and the UAE, bringing together Syrian talent, companies, and policymakers to accelerate pathways to employment. the virtual network has already over 1,000 Syrian technical members from around the world.
As a mission-driven effort led entirely by volunteers—all of them Syrian professionals across the global tech ecosystem—SYNC is proving that grassroots innovation from Silicon Valley can unlock large-scale opportunity and connect displaced talent with the future of work.
Bassel Yassine Ojjeh is a Syrian American executive based in Silicon Valley. He was born and raised in Syria and has held several executive roles at Microsoft and Yahoo before starting LigaData, where he serves as a CEO. Bassel is also a part-time olive farmer.
